When I was a sophomore in high school, I registered for a substance abuse class. At that age, I did not understand that alcohol abuse in point of fact was a sub division of drug abuse. While taking this class and learning more about drug and alcohol abuse, I read a lot about Alcoholic Anonymous, their meetings, how their programs have twelve steps, and how successful the Alcoholics Anonymous recovery program has been for people all through the world. I also learned quite a bit about alcohol rehab and the diverse alcohol rehab clinics that are regularly available to individuals who engage in excessive drinking.
Some of the dangerous effects related to alcoholism and alcohol abuse that I learned about in this class unquestionably alarmed me. The ruined lives and frequent difficulties experienced by most alcoholics made me feel like I never wanted to drink alcohol when I became old enough. In a word, I did not want to face the damage and ruination that alcohol addicted individuals almost always go through.
Let this sink in for a moment. What fifteen-year-old individual wants to face premature death due to his or her drinking behavior? What teenager wants to become so out-of-control regarding his or her drinking that consuming alcohol becomes the object of one’s life? What teen wants to go to one of the local alcoholic rehabilitation centers to deal with alcohol-related problems before he or she becomes an adult?
What young person wants to encounter alcohol withdrawal symptoms when he or she tries to quit drinking? Why would an individual engage in drinking to such an extent that it would cause difficulties in every area of his or her life? Drinking later in life after a person has a career, a family, and develops personal responsibilities makes sense. But why would a young person want to sacrifice his or her education, employment, finances, and relationships for a life that revolves around abusive drinking?
These issues were so important that I discussed some of them in class during the school year. What was downright incredible to me was the number of students who openly didn’t care about the damaging effects of hazardous drinking that I discussed. It was almost as if they couldn’t be bothered with the truth and how these outcomes can ruin their lives. For the first time in my life I started to comprehend a saying that my grandfather used to say to me all through my teen and pre-teen years: you can lead a horse to water but you can’t force it to drink.

It has recently become quite clear that there is a very real link between lung infections and gum disease. Because both of these problems are serious in and of themselves, neither should be taken lightly. With studies showing that periodontal disease can ultimately cause lung infections, that is yet more incentive to practice effective oral hygiene. Not only are your teeth and gums too important to risk, but your respiratory health is as well.
One device that is quite useful is known as the oral irrigator. This tool can help to fight the daily build up of plaque that is happening in your mouth.
Lung infections are also commonly known as bacterial respiratory infections. At least, that is one type of lung infection. Specifically, it is the one with which we are most concerned for the purposes of this article. These infections are caused when you inhale fine amounts of bacteria into your lungs. Naturally, within the droplets, there are likely to be bacteria. Those germs will first begin breeding and then multiplying - right inside your lungs. To say they can cause significant damage that way is an understatement. Essential oil blends such as oramd might be helpful in this regard.
A home ozone generator can be used to create oxygenated water that can then be used as an oxygenated mouth rinse. If you use a lot of mouthwash this could be a great way to save cash.
There was recently some research done which shows that this harmful bacteria can exist in the mouth. From there, it can be inhaled down into your lungs. A primary infection can occur from this, or an existing one can become much worse.
What is the specific link here? Gum disease is caused by bacteria. The worst part is that a large number of people currently have some form of gum disease and they do not even know it. In the best case scenario, we all have bacteria in our mouths, all the time. When you do not take care of your teeth and gums, however, the bacteria will get worse and worse. Microbes will infest the plaque building up between your teeth. That can easily be taken into your respiratory tract.
This article is not intended to provide advice, treatment or diagnosis for gum disease or any other health condition and is for information purposes only. You should seek diagnoses, treatment, advice and care from a periodontist or other dental professional if you have or think you might have gum disease or any other oral health problem. For other health problems, visit a medical doctor. Jennifer is a forty-year-old network consultant who has been drinking in an excessive and abusive manner since she and her live-in boyfriend broke up. In point of fact, for the past nine months she has been drinking just about two bottles of wine every night, and on the weekends she also has been drinking more than a few wine coolers all through the day.
After feeling downcast because she was beginning to let her health go downhill, Jennifer at last told herself that she’s had enough, that it’s time to quit the self pity routine, that it’s time to stop the hazardous drinking, and time to get going with her life. So the following Saturday morning at 10:00 AM, she decided to quit drinking cold turkey.
When She Stopped Drinking She Felt Awful, She Started to Sweat Extensively, Her Head Was Aching, She Was Extremely Moody and Tense, She Had Utterly No Appetite, and She Vomited a Number of Times
When Jennifer quit drinking, she assumed that she would quite possibly be tempted to sneak a few drinks, but she never assumed that she would feel so awful. More precisely, approximately three hours after she quit drinking, she vomited a number of times, she started to sweat profusely, her head was aching, she had absolutely no appetite, and she was extremely moody and nervous.
When she called her best buddy and told her that she had quit drinking and that after a few hours she without any warning began having flu-like symptoms, Tracy, her best buddy, told Jennifer to call her medical doctor and explain what she was experiencing.
She Admits to Her Physician That She Has Been Drinking In a Hazardous and Irresponsible Manner, That She Just Tried to Quit Drinking, and That She is Experiencing Horrible Flu-Like Symptoms
So Jennifer called her physician, told him that she has been drinking abusively for more than a few months and that when she honestly tried to abruptly quit drinking earlier in the day, within a couple of hours she felt as if she had the most ghastly flu-like symptoms that she had ever experienced.
Her doctor told her that she may be going through alcohol withdrawal symptoms and that she should have a friend or relative take her to the emergency room as soon as possible.
As soon as Jennifer got off the phone, she got a family member to drive her to the emergency room. Interestingly, all the way to the hospital, as sick as Jennifer felt, the only thing she could think about was whether or not she might be addicted to alcohol.
It appears that her healthcare professional had phoned ahead and informed the emergency room personnel to expect Jennifer because when she got to the hospital, she was met by two ER workers who promptly told her to lie down on the portable bed they had with them. After getting wheeled to the emergency room and undergoing two or three necessary tests, it was established that Jennifer was in actual fact experiencing alcohol withdrawal symptoms and was in need of alcohol detox.
An emergency room healthcare practitioner administered some medications to lessen the intensity of her flu-like symptoms and also administered some medications to help get rid of the alcohol that was still in her blood.
An Alcohol and Drug Abuse Medical Practitioner Discusses That She is Addicted to Alcohol and Then Discusses What Alcohol Withdrawal Symptoms and Alcoholism Stages Are
After two or three hours, Jennifer was taken from the ER and transported to the recovery room. After she was in recovery for nearly two hours, Doctor Gordon, an alcohol dependency and alcohol abuse specialist, came to visit her. He took plenty of time and explained in plain words that Jennifer had experienced alcohol withdrawal symptoms when she quit drinking due to the fact that she had become addicted to alcohol.
He then explained that with excessive drinking on an everyday basis, the drinker’s brain slowly becomes accustomed to the alcohol so that it can perform in a “routine” fashion. When the individual then suddenly quits drinking, as one would expect, the brain takes action by generating alcohol withdrawal symptoms. What is more, her healthcare professional also discussed the various alcoholism stages that an alcohol dependent person regularly experiences as the disease gets worse over time.
It is Verified that Jennifer is in the First Stage of Alcoholism and She Receives a Favorable Prognosis For a Total Recovery if She Gets the Alcohol Addiction Therapy She Requires
Fortunately for Jennifer, it was confirmed that she was in the earliest stage of alcoholism and, as a result, she obtained a favorable forecast for a full recovery if she receives the alcoholism rehab she requires.
Jennifer told the healthcare practitioner that she will do whatever it takes to get sober and to restore her life and her health. She also mentioned that she has an outstanding hospitalization policy that will more likely than not pay for most of the costs required for rehabilitation. It was apparent that Jennifer was quite pleased with her positive medical prognosis and felt at ease knowing that she will be able to get the alcohol dependency rehab she requires so that she can start on the road to recovery.

Miss Benning was a health instructor at the most underfinanced co-educational high school in the local community. Although she had been teaching for only one year, she had already gained a reputation as an instructor with instructional techniques that motivated and encouraged her students to think and to learn.
As an illustration, one Friday morning at 8:30 she addressed her pupils and said the following: “For the next two weeks we are going to learn about some basic alcoholism facts from a general point of view and we are also going to learn about some of the best known signs of alcoholism from a more detailed point of view.
Not all of these alcoholism signs will unquestionably demonstrate that a drinker with a drinking problem is an individual who is addicted to alcohol, but the more signs that a person displays, the greater the possibility that he or she is an alcohol addicted person.”
Miss Benning then explained to the students in the class that each pupil would be accountable for investigating three alcoholism signs and then presenting his or her results to the other class members via a six minute oral presentation.
The Pupils are Keyed Up About Giving An In-Depth Presentation to Their Fellow Students About The Signs of Alcoholism
After learning about the different alcohol dependency signs for a number of days, the time had come for the student presentations. It was immediately apparent that the students were wound up about the topic because the information that they presented was outstanding. To say that Miss Benning was pleasantly surprised with the interest displayed by the students in her class concerning this topic was an understatement.
The day after all of the students completed their presentations, Miss Benning passed out a sheet of paper with a list of all the alcoholism signs that were discussed and presented in class and in the presentations. Miss Benning then asked her students to study the list and rank the top ten alcohol addiction signs that were most indicative of alcohol dependency. After roughly five minutes, Miss Benning collected the sheets of paper and explained to the students in her classroom that after she reviews the results, she will reveal her findings the next school day.
There was some real excitement by the pupils while they were exiting Miss Benning’s classroom. One could swear that her students couldn’t wait for the next day to come so that they could learn about the outcome of their in-class research.
The Pupils Match Their Answers Against the Appraisals From A Team of Alcohol Dependency Authorities
When the next school day finally arrived, Miss Benning passed out a sheet of paper that listed the top four alcohol dependency signs according to the students’ rankings. To the right of these results, she added another column that was labeled “correct response.” She then informed the students in her classroom that the numbers in the new column she added represented the responses that were stated publicly by a council of drug and alcohol addiction specialists.
Miss Benning asked the pupils in her class to look over the data on the piece of paper she passed out and then to raise their hand if they had any questions, concerns, or issues. Within 10 or 20 seconds, almost every student in the class raised his or her hand. It was clear to see that the pupils had some concerns, issues, or questions about their results versus the answers given by the experts. As an illustration, just about every person in the classroom had an issue with the highest ranked answer given by the specialists, that is, “Do you feel awfully ill when you stop drinking?”
The Chief Difference Between Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism is the Physical Addiction That is Experienced With Alcohol Dependency and Not With Alcohol Abuse
Miss Benning then told her students why this answer was the most unambiguous sign of alcohol dependency. She stressed the fact that the main difference between alcohol abuse and alcoholism is the physical addiction that is experienced with alcohol dependency and not with alcohol abuse.
In essence this means that when an alcohol addicted person abruptly quits drinking, he or she will suffer through alcohol withdrawal symptoms.
Miss Benning then told her students that alcohol withdrawal symptoms are responses by the body and by the brain to the deficiency of alcohol to which they had become acclimated. Stated differently, alcohol withdrawal symptoms are messages from the brain and from the body telling an individual who is alcohol dependent that something is dreadfully incorrect and needs to be rectified. These signals consist of a number of uncomfortable, painful, and dangerous withdrawal symptoms that can potentially lead to a person’s death if the proper treatment is not immediately undertaken.
Miss Benning then discussed the host of alcohol withdrawal symptoms that can be experienced when an alcohol addicted individual abruptly quits drinking.
The point that Miss Benning tried to underscore was this: an alcohol abuser can experience almost any and every one of the alcohol addiction signs that the students had ranked, but the one symptom or sign that few, if any, people who engage in alcohol abuse ever experience is alcohol withdrawal symptoms.
To state this as clearly as possible, Miss Benning stressed the fact that alcohol abusers, unlike alcoholics, are not alcohol dependent and consequently, when they stop drinking, they almost never experience alcohol withdrawal symptoms.
The Pupils Feel They Have Discovered An Inconsistency With the Findings From The Council of Drug and Alcohol Addiction Professionals
The students also had an issue with the second ranked answer given by the substance abuse experts, that is, “Have you ever had a drink the first thing in the morning to steady your nerves or to get rid of a hangover?”
Miss Benning informed the students in her class that this sign does not automatically mean that the problem is alcohol addiction, but that it does point to the need that alcohol addicted individuals have to drink in order to keep away from alcohol withdrawal symptoms.
After Miss Benning explained the importance of alcohol withdrawal symptoms in the life of the alcoholic, the students started to appreciate the fundamental difference between alcohol abuse and alcoholism.
To add a sense of closure to the subject matter, Miss Benning asked the students in her classroom to take out a piece of paper and answer the following question: “if every individual who is an alcoholic knew about every one of the alcohol addiction signs and alcohol withdrawal symptoms we have studied, what percentage of them do you think would get alcohol addiction rehab?”
After about three or four minutes, Miss Benning asked for the pupils’ responses. While many pupils reasoned that about 75 to 85 percent of alcohol addicted individuals would get alcoholism rehab if they knew about the facts related to alcohol dependency signs and alcohol withdrawal symptoms, most of the students reasoned that this number would not be less than 50 percent.
The Pupils Were Astonished to Find Out That Only 25% of Alcohol Dependent Individuals in the U.S. Seek Alcoholism Rehab
To the surprise of most of the pupils, Miss Benning confirmed that according to various scientific examinations, only 25% of the people who are alcohol dependent in the United States get alcohol dependency treatment. This astonished most of the pupils because they thought that first-hand knowledge of the deplorable facts and statistics related to alcoholism would motivate the majority of the people who are addicted to alcohol to seek alcohol treatment.
Miss Benning then explained that people who are alcohol dependent not only need alcohol on an everyday basis in order to function but they also need alcohol on an everyday basis so they can avert possible alcohol withdrawal symptoms. Obviously, the alcohol dependent individual’s need to drink on a daily basis is stronger than logic or facts. As a matter of fact, due to the fact that the need for alcohol is “reality” to the alcohol dependent person, this is difficult to reverse.
A few minutes later the bell rang, signifying the end of the class. Based on the buzz displayed by the pupils when they were leaving the classroom, Miss Benning recognized that she had encouraged and stimulated the students in her class to stop and think about a noteworthy health and social problem that exists in our culture.

As scary as it is to think about, let alone really consider, studies show that there is a possible link between Alzheimer’s and gum disease. As most of us are well aware, Alzheimer’s Disease is a devastating problem which causes a person to forget - everything. They can forget how to do things. They might forget things they have done. They can forget their loved ones. The degeneration only continues from there. The disease is tough on the person suffering from it and on everyone who cares for that person.
We also know that gum disease is a serious enough problem that a number of other diseases are linked to it. It seems as if the list continues to grow larger and larger. You can see why it is imperative to maintain excellent oral health. Oramd is a simple essential oil blend that might help. Your life may very well depend on taking impeccable care of your gums and teeth.
It is now suspected that there is a link between Alzheimer’s Disease and, specifically, the gum disease known as gingivitis. Particularly, this is a true threat if gingivitis is left untreated and is thus allowed to grow into something more serious, such as periodontitis.
There are a number of methods to help fight this oral health problem. You could utilize the powerful therabreath line of mouthwashes.
Considering the fact that anywhere from fifty to seventy five percent of the population in the US may have gingivitis, you can see the enormous risk here. The odds are almost too painful to look at.
Another method of combatting this disease that few have thought about is utilizing the power of a home ozonator to make oxygenated mouthwash that can be used to kill the germs that cause dental disease.
The problem is that it is so easy for gum disease to go unnoticed - or even ignored. It is thus vital that you pay close attention to your teeth and your gums. If your gums bleed when you brush or floss, that is a sign of gingivitis. If you suspect you have it, you need to work on it early. Taking care of your teeth is easy. So is saving your life through good oral hygiene.
Disclaimer: If you have or think you might have gum disease or some other type of health problem, visit your periodontist or doctor for advice, diagnosis and treatment. The USFDA has not evaluated statements about any products in this article.

It is much known that we all give the high amount of attention to plumbing, our electric works, painting, flooring and roofing aspects of our habitat during construction. It actually is a matter to be seen very consistently and intelligently about your internal drain piping. The entire lay out of your house needs to be in total synchronization with the decided plumbing plan for the piping It sure is- as you may not have the luxury of breaking down a wall or two to bring up the piping in a highly functional set up. Now this well could be a set up for the Manchester Plumbers to take care of with utter attention. It is always sensible to go for a drainage system that keeps your housing structure resistant to water seepage and leak at all times of the year. If you are not being careful enough about the soak power of your main drain material, then you probably could be scripting a recipe for a plumbing devastation. Another thing to bear in mind is that of your home’s ceiling. It isn’t always recommended to go in for the concrete brick ceiling if you want to your habitat to be rain proof at all times. You could probably even ask South Lebanon roofers(Need one?click here!) to recommend other roof types to you to help you beat the hazards of a roof that is prone to seepage and cracking in times of storm and dust whirls. Last but not the least, make sure that your lighting and electric points in the dwelling are not very current prone. One must be very careful while injecting the electric plug points in the house for this. An example being- you practically cannot be having an electric point near your gas stove. For this, you should ask your architect to draw up an effective house blueprint for the Dallas Electricians (Need one? click here!) doing up your abode electric jobs.

Is there a connection between gum disease and diabetes? The simplest answer is yes. However, nothing is ever so simple and it pays to take a closer look at this potentially threatening link. By themselves, gum disease and diabetes are already devastating. Having one can make the other worse, and there is truly no need to allow that to happen.
A special oxygenated mouthwash called ‘therabreath‘ may be helpful. This mouthwash is also pH balanced
Diabetic control is one reason for this connection. In some cases, gum disease can complicate diabetes and vice-versa.
There is an essential oil blend called ‘ora md‘ that may be helpful. Essential oils of spearmint, peppermint and almond are believed to have anti bacterial qualities.
However, if you have diabetes but have strong control over your blood glucose levels, you are in significantly better shape. Studies show that you will be no more at risk for gingivitis than someone who does not have diabetes.
Another diabetic complication is thicker blood vessels. This is yet another complication which can make you more at risk for getting periodontal disease. Basically, thicker blood vessels makes it more difficult for nutrients to flow in and harmful waste products to flow out. The result of this is the inability of the gum tissue surrounding your teeth to fight off infection.
Bacteria causes gum disease in the first place. Bacteria love sugar - especially glucose. Of course, if you have diabetes, you see the problem here. The bacteria which can cause gum disease will be attracted to the glucose in your body.
Many people have made their own oxygenated mouthwashes at home utilizing the power of Home ozonators
Smoking increases the risk of getting gum disease when you have diabetes as well. A smoker who has diabetes is many times more likely to develop gum disease than a smoker without diabetes.
What could be done to break this link? Take your medication, in the case of thickening vessels. Maintain strong, solid control of your blood sugar. Do not smoke. Visit your dentist regularly. Of course, brush twice a day and floss.
Disclaimer: This article is for information purposes only and does not intend to diagnose, advise on or treat gum disease or any other health condition. If you have these problems or think you might, visit a dentist or periodontist immediately for advice, diagnosis and treatment. The USFDA has not evaluated statements about products in this article.

Many people have often wondered, who was the first practicing periodontist? Upon hearing this question, many other people have wondered, what is a periodontist? Well, we are going to discuss those questions and many more throughout this article, to the best of our abilities concerning the documented evidence.
We know for a fact that periodontal disease has been a problem for people all throughout history. You see, as a specialty, periodontics - the study of periodontal disease, periodontitis, et cetera - has a very long and very full history. That history spans the whole of civilization.
An excellent mouthwash product line by therabreath exists and can be quite useful for oral health.
There is evidence that even back in prehistoric times, our ancestors had some problems with their teeth. For example, people in the early Egyptian and Middle Eastern cultures had oral health problems. How do we know this? Well, for one thing, there is written evidence and skeletal remains which show the existence of periodontal disease.
In more modern times we have a deviced called the hydrofloss as well as a home ozonator that can be quite helpful in this regard.
In histories pertaining to ancient Chinese and Indian societies, there exists evidence of periodontal diseases like scurvy. Within those same histories, there were actually pieces of advice pertaining to the importance of cleaning one’s teeth! The evidence exists up through history, from ancient Greek and Roman to Renaissance Europe. The diseases themselves were described in the documents available, as well treatments and methods of prevention.
However, the first periodontist came quite a bit later - not until the early twentieth century, in fact. Now, it stands to reason that periodontists likely existed before this; they simply were not documented. They might have gone by a different title. Around about 1914, however, all available accounts seem to suggest that Dr. Grace Rogers may well have been the first periodontist.
Given the long history of documented periodontal diseases and care, however, it only stands to reason that, in the equally long history of dentistry, other people must have practiced periodontology. We simply do not have documentation of those possible forebears.
Disclaimer: If you have or think you might have gum disease or any other health problem, please visit your doctor or periodontist for advice, diagnosis and treatment. This article is for information purposes only and does not intend to provide advice, diagnosis or treatment for any health condition.
